“They say when bad things happen you have to face them. I don’t believe in that. All I believe in is… the game.”
Something terrible has happened at Evie’s school. Rather than deal with it head-on, the students retreat into their fantasy worlds, clinging to their elaborate game when the real world proves too much.
There’s the medieval adventure, where brave knights must push back The Whisperer’s dark forces once and for all. Or there’s the underwater epic, where rising sea levels have turned Australia into a modern Atlantis. Or the fairy fantasia, with dark elves infiltrating the annual winter feast.
The game takes many forms, and it demands to be played. But one by one these separate worlds collide, and no one can really remember what game they’re playing anymore.
Written by award-winning playwright, Jamie Hornsby, Transcendence is a sprawling fantasy epic about escapism and the things won and lost at the end of childhood.
A fun and frenetic fantasy epic for a large cast of young people, Transcendence is available to license for schools and youth groups now.
